Our Activities
Music Tuition and Therapy
In our fully equipped professional studios, participants can explore the joy of music in a way that suits them. Whether learning an instrument, developing vocal skills, exploring music production, or recording original compositions, sessions are designed around their preferences. Music is not only a creative outlet but also provides therapeutic benefits, promoting relaxation, self-expression, and emotional well-being.
Creative Computing
Our computing sessions introduce participants to a variety of creative digital skills, including coding, game design, 3D printing, video editing, and graphic design. These activities are examples of what is possible, but our approach is always participant-led. Through open discussion, we establish each individual’s interests and tailor sessions accordingly, ensuring they are engaging and meaningful. Whether a participant is curious about technology, looking to develop a new skill, or wants to explore a crossover with music production, we support them in shaping their own learning journey.
For those with a strong interest in both music and computing, we encourage crossover projects where appropriate. This could include digital music production, sound design for games, or even creating visuals to accompany compositions. We recognise that creativity spans multiple disciplines, and our flexible approach allows participants to explore their interests holistically.
Support for All Learners
We embrace diversity and inclusivity, providing support for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to ensure that everyone can fully participate in our activities. Our goal is to create an engaging, accessible learning environment where all individuals can thrive.
Session Structure
At The Underground Studios, we structure each session to create a seamless and engaging experience that balances creativity, focus, and fun. Here’s a breakdown of what a typical session looks like:
Arrival and Sign-in
Participants arrive, sign in, and are welcomed into the creative environment.Transition with Gaming or Catch-up
To help participants ease into the session, we start with a brief gaming activity or casual catch-up. This provides a relaxed way to transition from the outside world into the creative mindset of the session.50% Music or Computing Focus
Participants dive into the first half of the session, either engaging in music-related activities (e.g., instrument tuition, music production) or exploring computing (e.g., coding, game design). The activity is tailored to their individual interests.Transition to the Other Discipline
After a short break or transition period, we switch to the second focus of the session. Whether it’s moving from music to computing or vice versa, this ensures a dynamic and varied experience.50% Computing or Music Focus
The second half of the session is dedicated to the other discipline, allowing participants to explore both music and computing within the same session.Reflection, Goodbyes, and Sign-out
At the end of the session, we take a few minutes to reflect on the day’s activities, discuss achievements, and say our goodbyes before sign-out. Participants then leave, taking with them a sense of accomplishment and a connection to the next session.

Referral Process:
At The Underground Studios CIC, we prioritise delivering high-quality services to our community. Due to our limited capacity and high demand, we manage our referral process carefully to ensure that every participant receives the support they need.
- Submission of Referral Form – Prospective participants or their representatives complete our online referral form, providing key details about the individual’s interests and needs.
- Assessment of Suitability – We review the referral to understand the participant’s goals, challenges, and aspirations.
- Identifying the Best Fit – As a small organisation with limited capacity, we prioritise individuals whose needs align with our programmes, considering risk factors and compatibility with existing participants.
- Collaboration with Support Networks – We liaise with participants and their support networks to ensure our services align with their needs. This may include an informal meeting and tour of our facility.
- Confirmation of Participation – Once suitability is established, we confirm the placement and provide relevant onboarding information.
- Ongoing Support & Communication – Regular check-ins, progress updates, and session reports help ensure continued development and alignment with personal goals. While we provide feedback and documentation, the format and frequency may be determined in collaboration with the commissioning body and other relevant parties.
